Doctor/Nurse |
All doctors have
daily telephone
appointments (5 each) to discuss
such things as results, general advice or to
review ongoing problems. |
Same-day appointments
If, by the time you call, there are no remaining
same-day appointments available, you will be given the
opportunity to speak to the duty doctor on the
telephone. He or she will either resolve your problem on
the phone or will arrange for you to come in and be
seen. This will either be on the same day, in an
‘urgent’ slot which has been reserved for such
incidences, or within the next few days if more
appropriate. Obviously, for urgent medical problems, it
may not be possible for you to see your usual doctor.
Messages
You can leave a message for your doctor but, unless
urgent, he or she cannot guarantee to respond the same
day.
Length and Content of appointments
All appointments with doctors are for 10 minutes and are
usually for one problem only. If you think you will need
longer than 10 minutes, please speak to the
receptionist.
Continuity of care for long-term medical problems
We believe that continuity of care is very important,
particularly for people with long-term medical problems.
We also appreciate that you like to be able to see the
doctor or nurse of your choice. We therefore encourage
you to book your appointments in advance where possible.
As several of the doctors work part-time and are not
available every day, it may be advisable to share your
appointments between two doctors at the surgery. If you
have problems getting an appointment to see your usual
doctor, please discuss this with reception; we will do
our very best to accommodate you.
Cancellation of appointments
Please be sure to let reception know as soon as possible
if you cannot keep, or no longer need, your appointment.
Someone else may need it.
